The Rangoli Unit -1 in Rajendra Nagar is a project for elderly women from marginalized community. This project was initiated to empower women in their old age and help them to be independent and foster social interaction.

 

The elderly women at the centre make paper bags and colourful doormats out of left-over fabric that is received from garment factories.

Currently, they are provided eggs, buns, bananas on alternate days and dry rations once a month.

​

They have medical check-ups where basic medicines are recommended. The YWCA of Bangalore City assists the elderly women in enrolling themselves in the pension scheme from the government. Our field staff make regular home visits to those who are not regular to the centre.
