A century old, world-wide Movement, the YWCA is spread over 120 countries uniting more than 25 million women. It is an organization that has networked widely with National and International NGOs and UN agencies on women’s concerns and has influenced public opinion. These joint initiatives have brought about radical changes in Government policies towards women.

The YWCA seeks to develop a membership that is responsive through service, to the needs of the whole community in a changing world.  The strength of the Organisation lies in its ability to evolve strategies to meet the changing needs of women.

The vision of the YWCA of India is to empower women at all levels to struggle for justice.

​

The YWCA of India unites more than 86 local YWCAs. It strives to create a better future for women and girls through empowerment and advocacy programs and also build gender equality and transformational changes.

 

A group of committed women came together in 1965 and started the YWCA of Bangalore City with the motto:

“BY LOVE SERVE ONE ANOTHER”.

The goals of YWCA of Bangalore City continue to be relevant to our country as we witness an unprecedented rapid social change and urbanization. With increasing numbers of young women pursuing steadily higher levels of education and growing numbers of young women in the work force, the need to support and empower them in various ways is more than ever before.

What started as a small venture has now grown into a larger Association with two premises, one in Mission Road and the other in Koramangala with various projects for the empowerment and well-being of women and children.
